Cai Guoqiang – Visual Artist 1995 Fellow, China
Cai Guoqiang was awarded an ACC fellowship in 1995 to support his first trip to the United States to participate in an artist residency program at PS 1 in New York. He has since emerged as one of the most renowned visual artists from China and is widely known for his gunpowder projects and elaborate sculpture installations. His works have been featured internationally at the 1999 Venice Biennale and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as well as in leading arts institutions including the Guggenheim Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Shanghai Art Museum and the Tate Modern in London.
